Sticky Turkey Burger w/ Spicy Horseradish Sauce over Sweet & Spicy Cabbage Salad

I think this is the best recipe and one of the best-looking plates I've ever made. Again I've taken an idea from one of my favorite chefs in 2021, Lazarus Lynch, and created a Healthish version.

This is one of the most flavorful burgers and salad combos I've ever made. You can taste each of the flavors, from the sweet maple syrup to the ginger to the hint of spicy Sriracha. I decided to create a cabbage salad and use one of my favorite red cabbage.

The colors when you plate this dish is amazing. AMAZING!

Now check out this video of the dish before you get started.

Remember, I cook it, I eat it, so I know you'll love it!

Horseradish Spicy Sauce

1/2 cup Horseradish Sauce

3 Tbsp Sriracha

Turkey Burgers

1/2 cup Shredded Red Cabbage

4 Tbsp olive oil

1 Tbsp grated fresh ginger (or 1/2 Tbsp of dry ginger)

2 scallions, roughly chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced (2 Tbsp of minced garlic)

1 lb 80% of lean ground turkey

1 Tbsp low-sodium soy sauce

2 tsp untoasted sesame oil

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (more if you like spicy)

1/4 cup sesame seeds

1/4 cup honey (or Suger-Free Maple Syrup for low-carb)

Sweet & Spicy Red Cabbage Salad

4 cups Shredded Red Cabbage

1/2 cup unseasoned rice vinegar

2 Tbsp grated fresh ginger (or 1 1/2 Tbsp of dry ginger)

2 Tbsp Stevia sweetener or 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar Stevia sweetener

1/2 tsp kosher salt

1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

Making the horseradish spicy sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the horseradish sauce and Sriracha. Cover and refrigerate until ready to pour over the burger.

Making the sweet & spicy red cabbage salad: Place the cabbage in a large bowl and set aside.

In a small saucepan, combine the vinegar, ginger, sweetener, salt, and red pepper flakes and bring to a boil over medium-high off the heat and pour the vinegar mixture over the cabbage in the bowl. Toss to combine and set aside, tossing occasionally.

Make the turkey burgers: In the bowl of a food processor, pulse together the 1/2 cup shredded cabbage, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, the ginger, scallions, shallot, and garlic until finely minced. Transfer the cabbage mixture to a large bowl.

Add the turkey, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and red pepper flakes to the bowl and mix well. Divide the turkey mixture into 4 equal balls and form them into 1-inch-thick patties. Note: I used my scale to make sure patties are equal.

Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the burgers and cook until golden brown on the bottom, about 5 minutes. Flip and cook until cooked through, about another 4-5 minutes more. Reduce the heat to low and pour the sugar-free maple syrup or honey over the burger, coating the tops and bottoms. Using a spatula flip the burgers to coat with syrup. Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the top of the burgers.

Plate the salad and add the burger on top of the salad. Take some of the brown syrup sauce from the skillet and pour over the burger. Next, take the spicy horseradish sauce and pour it over the burger too.

That's it! Now enjoy all the wonderful flavors.
